Implementation of the EMS Education Agenda

Talking Points and Frequently Asked Questions Now Available

(March 25, 2009 - Falls Church, VA) The National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) announces the availability of two new documents intended to support national implementation of the EMS Education Agenda for the Future: A Systems Approach (Education Agenda). Developed to support State implementation activities, “Talking Points” and “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQs) describe key elements and provide greater understanding about the individual components of the Education Agenda. Highlights include:

  • The history and background of the Education Agenda
  • Overview of the five components of the Education Agenda
  • Benefits that national implementation of the Education Agenda provides to the EMS profession
  • How preparation of EMS personnel under the Education Agenda compares with other allied health professions
  • Role of States in implementing the Education Agenda

Talking Points and FAQs are intended to address common perceptions about the Education Agenda. They should be reviewed in their entirety because several elements of the documents are interrelated. Over the next several weeks, NASEMSO will be collaborating with EMS stakeholders and partners to assist in the development of transition materials that will support State implementation plans.

NASEMSO’s Talking Points and FAQs are now available on the NASEMSO web site at www.nasemso.org.
