James Crawford

Jim Crawford is currently the Planning Chief and Fire Marshal for Vancouver, Washington where his responsibilities include code enforcement, plan review, fire investigation and public education activities.  Mr. Crawford served as the Fire Marshal in Portland, Oregon before moving to Vancouver.  With more than 33 years experience in the fire service, with the last 18 in senior level management, Mr. Crawford has been an active participant at the national level with the U.S. Fire Administration, The International Fire Marshal's Association (past President), the International Association of Fire Chief's and the National Association of Fire Marshals.  Mr. Crawford is the current chair for the technical committee on professional qualifications of Fire Marshals.  Mr. Crawford is the author of Fire Prevention: A Comprehensive Approach published by Brady/Prentice Hall, and is a regular columnist with Fire Rescue Magazine.  Mr. Crawford has served as adjunct faculty at the National Fire Academy.  Mr. Crawford holds an A.S. in Fire Science from Clackamas Community College (OR), and a B.S. in Management and Communications form Concordia University.  Mr. Crawford holds numerous training certificates and is a Certified Fire Inspector II from the International Code Council.
